Meeting Description:

Before we decide how to get there, we need to decide where we want to go. Visioning is the process by which Onondaga County can begin to define the future it wants based on the ideas and input of participants. Through this workshop, it is our goal to identify and confirm our core community values as they relate to land use planning and our economy, our environment and society.

These core community values, ideas and goals will then be used to produce inputs for the next phase of the planning process and the Choose Our Future Public Open Houses and online surveys, to be conducted in August 2011. The Sustainable Development Plan will incorporate these values into the scenario evaluations to measure how different ‘futures’, or land development scenarios, measure up against one another. Open House participants will be able to choose which future land development strategy they think is best and thus help guide our regional policies.
